Top entry with inspection opening
The SiltGuard SG2000/TE Vehicle Wash Silt Interceptor features a durable, chemical-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tank with a 2,000‑litre capacity, engineered to perform reliably in demanding wash and environmental conditions.
Designed for high-volume operations, it can accommodate up to 10,000 wash cycles before requiring emptying. This makes it well suited for commercial car washes, fleet depots, and industrial facilities.
The unit incorporates a top-entry design with a 600 mm × 600 mm clear inspection opening and a D400 load-rated grating, allowing contaminated wash water to discharge directly into the interceptor. Single-stage alternatives are also available with a solid access cover instead of a grating.
Maintenance is straightforward, with full access to the grating for inspection, cleaning, and debris removal. The top-entry configuration enables efficient servicing without specialised tools.
With a silt retention capacity of 2,800Kg, the SG2000/TE supports extended maintenance intervals – reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.

Vehicle washing can generate surprisingly high volumes of silt, dirt, and debris, with the amount varying significantly according to vehicle type, operating environment, and usage patterns. Industry data indicates that a typical passenger car produces approximately 300g of silt and residue per wash cycle, while larger vans and commercial vehicles can generate up to 1.5kg. In more demanding environments such as construction sites, quarries, mines, and industrial facilities, heavily contaminated vehicles may release as much as 20kg of silt and solids during a single wash.
Engineered for sites where high-capacity silt management is essential, the SG2000TE delivers an outstanding silt retention capacity of approximately 2,800kg. When used in conjunction with a conventional pressure washer or brush wash system for cars and light commercial vehicles, the unit can provide a minimum of around 1,800 wash cycles and, under favourable operating conditions, potentially as many as 10,000 wash cycles before emptying is required.
This exceptional retention capacity makes the SG2000TE particularly well suited to busy vehicle wash facilities, fleet operators, transport depots, municipal services, and industrial sites where minimising maintenance interventions is a priority. By capturing and retaining substantial volumes of sediment, the system helps protect downstream drainage infrastructure while reducing the frequency of servicing and associated operational disruption.
For sites washing heavily soiled construction, agricultural, quarrying, or industrial vehicles, maintenance intervals will naturally be shorter due to the significantly higher silt loads generated during each wash cycle. However, with its impressive storage capacity and robust design, the SG2000TE is built to handle demanding applications where large quantities of silt and solids are an everyday reality.
