Side entry with a solid access cover
SG2000/SE Overview
The Silt guard SG2000/SE Vehicle Wash Silt Interceptor features a robust, chemical-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tank with a 2,000-litre capacity, designed for demanding wash environments. It can support up to 8,500 wash cycles between emptying, making it ideal for high-volume applications such as commercial car washes, fleet depots, and industrial facilities.
Unlike Top Entry (TE) models, Side Entry (SE) units are installed with a solid access cover rather than a grated surface.
SG2000/SE Operation
Drainage from washdown areas, including yard or road gullies and channel drainage, is directed into the unit via the inlet pipe. Silt and debris are captured and retained within the interceptor tank.
The SG2000/SE offers a silt retention capacity of 2,550Kg, enabling extended maintenance intervals based on typical usage. This helps minimise downtime and maintain efficient operations.

Vehicle washing can generate surprisingly large volumes of silt, dirt, and debris, with the amount varying significantly depending on the size, type, and operating conditions of the vehicle. A typical passenger car will generate around 0.3Kg of silt and residue per wash, while larger vans and commercial vehicles can produce up to 1.5Kg. In heavy-duty environments such as construction sites, quarries, and industrial facilities, individual vehicles may release as much as 20Kg of silt and solids during a single wash cycle.
Designed to cope with these demanding conditions, the SG2000/SE delivers an impressive silt retention capacity of approximately 2,550Kg. When used with a conventional pressure washer or brush wash system for cars and light commercial vehicles, this capacity can provide between 1,700 and 8,500 wash cycles before emptying is required, depending on vehicle type and contamination levels.
For operators handling heavily soiled plant, construction, agricultural, or industrial vehicles, the SG000/SE offers a robust and reliable solution for capturing large volumes of sediment and preventing it from entering the drainage network. As higher silt loads are generated during each wash, maintenance intervals will naturally be shorter, but the unit’s substantial capacity helps minimise servicing requirements and operational disruption.
The SG2000/SE becomes even more effective when incorporated into a well-designed drainage system. Upstream gullies, catch pits, and other settlement features will capture additional debris before it reaches the interceptor, further extending maintenance intervals and enhancing overall system performance. These factors should be considered during the design stage to maximise efficiency and long-term operational benefits.
